Widely regarded in the medical community as a pain medicine specialist, Dr. Stanton-Hicks has been an anesthesiologist for more than 50 years. He began a career in medicine upon graduating from Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1962. Since then, Dr. Stanton-Hicks has received board equivalent certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology, in addition to being a diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine. He went on to receive a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Dsseldorf in 1984 while serving as a professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
A respected author in his field of practice, Dr. Stanton-Hicks has contributed to numerous medical publications, including “Pain Management: A Cleveland Clinic Guide,” which was released in 2009. He remains engaged with the medical community as a member of the editorial board for Pain Physician, and Neuromodulation and as an executive editor for Pain Practice Journal. Additionally, Dr. Stanton-Hicks is a fellow of the faculty of anesthetists, Royal College of Surgeons of England, now a fellow the Royal College of Anesthetists, American Academy of Pain Management and Interventional Pain Practice. Since 2012, he serves as a consultant to the Department of Pain Management with the Cleveland Clinic.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Stanton-Hicks has received numerous awards in recognition of his commitment to pain medicine and anesthesiology. He has been named one of the Best Doctors in America since 2010, he was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York New Jersey Society of Intervention Pain Specialists in 2013, the Distinguished Service Award and American Society of Regional Anethesia Award in 1998, the John J. Bonica Award from the Eastern Pain Society (New York) in 2015, and in 2014 he received an honorary fellowship of the Faculty of Anaethetists of Ireland. In addition, Dr. Stanton-Hicks has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the Midwest, and Who’s Who in the World. He was also selected for inclusion in the 3rd, 7th and 8th editions of Who’s Who in American Education, 1st, 3rd, 7th and 8th editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and 3rd, 7th, 10th and 11th editions of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
